Kylie Jenner is Pregnant, and the Internet Can't Calm Down


Where do I even begin?

Unless you've been living under a rock you've heard the groundbreaking news that Kylie Jenner is pregnant at age 20 with Travis Scott being the father. TMZ was the first to share the news on Friday the 22nd at 4:40 PM with People and other news sources quick to follow to cover the story. 



My mind started spinning on Friday at approximately 4:47 PM when I heard the news, and it hasn’t stopped since. I’ve spent the last four days scavenging for more information and constantly refreshing my most trusted online pop-culture news sources for the latest update. I know that my reaction might be a bit obsessive, but I love all things about the Kardashian-Jenner clan, and I regularly invest a lot of time trying to stay up to date with their dramatic lives. But, it seems that that rest of the internet is also having a minor heart attack about Kylie being a mom-to-be, too. 


From the E! News to CNN, everyone on the internet is trying to report on this story. And with good reason. The youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner crew is one of the most recognized young adults (adult being used loosely here) in the United States, so of course, everyone is taking an interest in her pregnancy. She's a member of America's most famous family, launched an empire with her cosmetics line, which is projected to rack in 328 million in 2017, has been filmed on reality TV since 2007, has 3 very successful clothing lines with her sister, and was named one of Time's Most Influential Teens. Oh, and she's only 20 and now with child. When I was 20 I still considered Kraft Easy Mac & Cheese for dinner as gourmet meal.

Others have taken notice that the pregnancy news leaked just two days before the Keeping Up With the Kardashian's 10 year anniversary special on E! News and are wondering if the always-scheming Kris Jenner had something to do with it:

Since the news broke on Friday the family has been relatively quiet, and nobody has explicitly confirmed (nobody has denied either) if Kylie is pregnant. When asked when she found out about her daughter’s pregnancy, a representative for Caitlyn Jenner said, “All I can tell you was it was a while ago,” and Kris Jenner told Ryan Seacrest, “Kylie’s not confirming anything.” 

I. Have. So. Many. Questions. 



Hopefully Kris is still in scheming mode, and E! News is hard at work filming an in depth interview with Kylie right now.

I have always loved shopping at stores that have the newest trends for the lowest prices. I have rewards memberships at Forever 21, Lulu’s, Zara, and H&M. I had always been under the assumption that these brands must be on the consumers’ side since they sell clothes for such a low cost unlike many other fashion brands. In my mind, I considered brands like Free People and Lulu Lemon to be less ethical than cheaper brands because I thought that they were making more of a profit for themselves by selling their clothes at much higher prices. That was all before I watched the documentary  The True Cost . Released in 2015, The True Cost is about how companies in the fast fashion industry are reaping in huge profits for themselves by making their clothes cost very inexpensive and by producing them quickly, but their garment workers and the environment are the ones absorbing the negative consequences of the industry. Victoria’s Secret is known worldwide for their premium lingerie, over the top annual fashion show, and their host of six-foot-tall gorgeous models. Although Victoria's Secret has lots of models appear on their website and catalogs, only a handful are selected for the coveted title of “Angel”. There are currently 14 Angels under contract, which includes veteran VS models like Stella Maxwell, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, and others. So, what comes with Angel status? The terms of the secretive contract are kept very under wraps by the brand, but these are things that we do know about what it means to be an Angel: -Angels have to commit at least 50 days a year to VS -they have specific commitments to promote the brand at special appearances and on social media -VS takes priority in the model’s scheduling and bookings -Must have a “healthy and muscular look” aka VS doesn’t want their models to look undernourished like most models in the industry
